Seize the moment

Text: Ecclesiastes 9:10-12

To seize it to take hold of something suddenly and forcibly. It means to grab or to snatch something; it means to take hold of an opportunity or initiative eagerly and decisively.

An open door is a gift of opportunity given to us by God. Unless we know the opportunity presented to us and take a hold of it, we might find out that victory in life’s battle will be elusive. Success in life’s endeavor may be nonexistence.

Life presents us with chances to advance, to make progress, to turn an otherwise bad situation around and when we fail to utilize those chances;  when we neglect to seize the moment so to say, we begin to blame household enemy, we blame our parents, we blame every other person except ourselves.

Seizing the moment is like being the men of Issachar who in 1 Chronicles 12:32 were said to have understanding of the times and knew what Israel ought to do

Success and breakthrough in life is knowing your moment and your chances and seizing those moments.

We cannot keep praying for open doors and keep missing the open doors when the opportunity is presented before our faces because most times opportunities comes wrapped in problems.

The open door to Daniel greatness came wrapped in a problem; the king wanted to kill all the wise men in Babylon because of the issue he had concerning  a dream. Daniel was facing certain death but he went before God and received the solution. He seized the moment.

David also seized his moment when he came face to face with Goliath marking the begining of his recognition as a man of war.  Don’t be afraid of the Goliath like problems, God want to use it to prove His mighty power at work in you.

Jesus never missed pivotal moments in His ministry. He was always seizing moments to teach, to preach and to explain the purpose of the Kingdom of God.

Seizing the moment can also be an opportunity to right what is wrong in your life or destiny. That may be your own open door this season.

For instance in being told to go and kill the Amalekites, King Saul was given another opportunity to right the wrong decision he made the first time but he missed it again. He disobeyed yet again and lost it finally.

The case of Rehoboam the son of Solomon is another pathetic one. In 2 Chronicles chapter10, he had the chance to avert the curse placed by God on his father Solomon (1 Kings 11:29-39)  but he failed to recognize thisdecisive moment in his life and lost a chunk of his inheritance. How many times have we been given  opportunity to reverse curses but we end up loosing  that chance as a result of not making a wise decision and taking decisve actions?

Proverbs 26: 2 says a curse cause less shall not alight. How have you allowed a curse that should not taken a foothold in your life because you fail to seize the moment, to study the word of God and apply it; to pray, to fast, to work hard and to connect with the right people at the right time

Looking at the account of Levi in Genesis 49:5-7, whom Jacob cursed but when the opportunity came for them to rise up and defend the righteousness of God,  they took action and Moses turned the curse to a blessing in Deuteronomy 33:8-11.

May the Lord teach you to take hold of the time and chances He is bringing your way and the needed strenght to utilize them effective in Jesus name.
